Steel Morph

Steel moprh

This morph was developed by technicians and designers who are members of the Lunar synthmorph rights movement, the Steel Liberators. Middle-class Lunars who came out of poverty and continue to actively support the Steel Liberators sometimes choose this morph, despite the fact that this choice often results in them experiencing significant prejudice from biochauvinists.

Quirks

Has a Neck hit location, but no special vulnerabilities there. [-1]

Features

Individuals of the same model closely resemble each other.

Cost

86 CP. $10k.

Variants

Masked

This version of the steel morph is equipped with the synthetic mask enhancement, making the shell look like a human biomorph. This version is uncommon, as most Steel Liberators view biological masking as a form of “selling out.” It is used both by Lunars who are stuck sleeving into a synthmorph, but whom don’t want to suffer discrimination, and by Steel Liberator activists looking to infiltrate biochauvinists and other opponent groups.

Changes

Add Appearance (Attractive; Off-the-Shelf Looks, -50%) 2, and a quirk, “Resembles a human until inspected closely” [-1], and delete the Social Stigma.

Cost

102 CP. $35k.

Hacha

The Hacha design is intended to reinforce the forces in some areas, with a minimum need for
retooling or retraining. Employing the older cybershell’s frame design and control protocols, the Hacha uses more advanced armor materials and electronics, a broad-angle visual sensor array with matching firmware enhancements, and a reserve power cell that allows it to operate for short periods with the main motor shut down; as it has some pressure protection, it can briefly function underwater. It also has claws, mostly for show.

Changes

Change Damage Resistance to 15 75 and add DX+1 20, Breath Holding 3 6, Claws (Sharp Claws) 5; Nictitating Membrane 1 1; Night Vision 5 5, Peripheral Vision 15, Pressure Support 1 5, Protected Sense (Vision) 5; Resistant to Electrical Pulses and Surges (+3) 1; and Sealed 15.

Cost

189 CP. $30k.

Liquid Silver

Designed as a top-end version of the steel morph, this shell’s entire outer covering is composed of active nanomachines. A number of synthmorph performers use this shell’s shape- and color-altering capacities as part of their acts. However, the fact that this morph can disguise itself as any other humanoid synthmorph, including the ubiquitous case morph, means that a number of covert operatives and criminals also make use of this morph. This version of the steel morph cannot use a synthetic mask.

Changes

Access Jacks, Basic Mesh Inserts, Cortical Stack, Cyberbrain, Eidetic Memory, Mnemonic Augmentation, Shape Adjusting, Skinflex, Wrist-Mounted Tools

Cost

Heavy Steel

A heavier model intended for use in assault groups. Dozens are available on the underground weapons market at any moment, at prices well below production cost. Its main advantage – aside from price – is the combination of an integral Xuan Feng combat rifle and increased strength. The typical kit for the MCS-64 is a heavy weapon (recoilless rifle or, where available, an AMR) with the integral Xuan Feng as a back-up/anti-personnel weapon. There are few variants on the basic MCS-64 model; most changes are simply a replacement of the Xuan Feng with a more modern weapon system.
